Impossible Foods was started in 2011 by Pat Brown, a Stanford biochemist who concluded that the only way to get people off beef was to work out what makes beef taste like beef.

White Castle added the Impossible Slider in 2018, a year before Burger King’s Impossible Whopper made plant-based burgers a national story.

Burger King tested the Impossible Whopper in St. Louis in April 2019 and put it on menus across the US that summer.

The smaller burger on the menu, with the same lettuce, tomato, onion, mustard and pickle as the Lota Burger.
