Paprika — 48 burger recipes

spice · 48 recipes

Paprika is in 43 recipes and is doing more work for colour than for heat. It is what gives Big Mac sauce its pinkish tone, what makes fried chicken coatings look deep red rather than beige, and what carries most of the visual identity of a burger sauce. Sweet paprika contributes almost no heat at all. Smoked paprika is a different ingredient entirely — it brings a fire-cooked flavour that overwhelms anything delicate, which is why the recipes here name the type rather than leaving it open.
