Wagyu Steakhouse Burger
Black Tap’s steakhouse burger, and the one the judges liked: it won the Judges’ Choice award at the NYC Wine & Food Festival’s Burger Bash. A half-pound wagyu patty with pepper Jack, crispy onions, A.1. sauce and roasted garlic mayo. The A.1. gives it that steak-sauce tang and the onions add crunch, so it tastes like a steak dinner squeezed into a bun. Heavy, so share the fries.
The story
Black Tap opened as a small burger bar in SoHo in 2015 and built its reputation partly through competitions. Its Wagyu Steakhouse Burger won the Judges’ Choice award at the Burger Bash of the New York City Wine & Food Festival, one of the city’s big burger contests, where Black Tap’s blue-cheese wagyu burger also took the People’s Choice award three times. The steakhouse version leans on A.1., a steak sauce whose roots go back to a London chef’s recipe of 1824.

About Black Tap
Chris Barish, son of the Planet Hollywood founder, opened Black Tap in 2015 as a tiny 15-seat burger and craft beer bar in New York. It became famous almost overnight for something other than burgers: the CrazyShake, a towering milkshake loaded with cake, sweets and candy floss that turned the queue outside into a fixture of Instagram.
Around a dozen locations, from New York, Las Vegas and Anaheim to Singapore, Dubai, Geneva and Zürich.
