Grandpa Burger
The head of the family, with three patties. It is the biggest burger A&W Canada makes and the one that turns a drive-thru stop into a challenge. Heavy, beefy and very much a treat.
The story
The Grandpa Burger is a later addition to A&W’s Burger Family, which began in the United States in the early 1960s with just four members: Baby, Mama, Teen and Papa. After most of the family disappeared in the 1980s, A&W Canada revived the idea from the late 1990s and kept adding relatives, and the Grandpa became the biggest of them: three regular beef patties, about nine ounces of beef in total, with onion, pickles, ketchup, mustard and Teen sauce on a sesame bun.
