Uncle Burger
The larger single-patty member of the family, a big patty with red onion. It eats more like a thick diner burger than the thinner family members, and the sharp red onion gives it bite. The one to pick if you want size without a stack.
The story
The Uncle Burger joined A&W Canada’s Burger Family long after the original four, Baby, Mama, Teen and Papa, which A&W created in the United States in the early 1960s. When Canada brought the family back from the late 1990s it kept inventing relatives, and the Uncle was built as the grown-up one: a single large five-ounce patty instead of stacked small ones, two slices of cheese, red onion, lettuce, tomato and its own Uncle sauce, closer to a restaurant burger than to the drive-in originals.
