Mama Burger
The simplest of the family: a regular patty with onion and pickles. It is light and classic, the burger for a quick lunch or for kids. It shows what the whole family is built on before the bacon and extra patties arrive.
The story
The Mama Burger is one of the four founding members of the Burger Family, the line-up A&W created in the United States in the early 1960s: Baby, Mama, Teen and Papa, sized like a family so that ordering at a drive-in was easy. Most of the family was retired in the 1980s in favour of a more ordinary menu, then brought back and expanded in Canada from the late 1990s. The Mama has always been the plain, smaller member of the household: one patty, onion and pickles, for people who want a burger rather than a meal.
