Fishburger
The Filet-O-Fish under a plainer name: breaded fish, tartar sauce and cheese in a soft steamed bun. It keeps the gentle, comforting character of the original.
The story
The Fishburger is the Filet-O-Fish, a sandwich created in 1962 by Lou Groen, a McDonald’s franchisee in a largely Catholic part of Cincinnati whose hamburger sales fell every Friday, when his customers did not eat meat. After McDonald’s left Russia in 2022, Vkusno i Tochka had to give its menu new names, and the fish sandwich became simply the Fishburger. The chain’s quality manager said at the time that the food used the same ingredients and was cooked on the same equipment as before, only in different packaging, so the Russian Fishburger is the same breaded fillet, tartar sauce, cheese and steamed bun.
