50 Alarm Burger

A challenge burger, and Slater’s means it: you have to sign a waiver to order one. The 50/50 beef-and-bacon patty is rubbed with ghost chile powder and topped with ghost chile Jack cheese, grilled jalapeños, habanero-bacon spread and a sunny-side-up egg on a brioche bun, with spicy fried peppers alongside. Ghost chile heat builds slowly and lasts. Have milk ready.

    About Slater's 50/50

    • United States
    • Since 2009
    • $$

Scott Slater opened the first Slater’s 50/50 in Anaheim Hills, California, around 2009 with one idea so simple it is surprising nobody had built a restaurant on it before: a burger patty made from half ground beef and half ground bacon. The bacon is not on the burger, it is the burger.

A small chain based in Southern California, with a few locations in other states.
