The Original 50/50

  • Signature

The burger the restaurant is named after. A patty of half ground bacon and half ground beef, so every bite is smoky and salty through and through, topped with a sunny-side-up egg, avocado mash, pepper-jack cheese and chipotle adobo mayo. It is rich beyond reason and exactly as good as it sounds. Break the yolk before you bite.

The story

Scott Slater came up with the 50/50 patty for his restaurant, grinding bacon together with beef instead of laying strips on top. The result was distinctive enough that the “50/50 burger” now has its own Wikipedia entry as a style, a rare honour for a single restaurant’s idea.

About Slater's 50/50

  • United States
  • Since 2009
  • $$

Scott Slater opened the first Slater’s 50/50 in Anaheim Hills, California, around 2009 with one idea so simple it is surprising nobody had built a restaurant on it before: a burger patty made from half ground beef and half ground bacon. The bacon is not on the burger, it is the burger.

A small chain based in Southern California, with a few locations in other states.
