Teriyaki Burger
A Japanese fast-food classic: a patty glazed in sweet, glossy teriyaki sauce with crisp lettuce and mayonnaise. Sweet sauce and creamy mayo is one of the great Japanese combinations, and MOS has been doing it for decades. Sticky, rich and much better than it has any right to be.
The story
The teriyaki burger is a MOS invention. The chain put the first one on sale in 1973, a year after opening, glazing a patty in sweet soy the way a Japanese cook would glaze fish, and it worked so well that every chain in the country eventually needed its own. McDonald’s Japan followed, and so did the rest. Teriyaki is now such a fixture of Japanese fast food that most customers have no idea it started at one burger counter in Tokyo.

About MOS Burger
MOS Burger opened in Tokyo in 1972 with a very un-fast-food idea: cook everything only after it is ordered. The name was later given a meaning, Mountain, Ocean, Sun, and the chain became Japan’s biggest home-grown answer to McDonald’s, now its second-largest burger chain.
The second-largest burger chain in Japan, with branches across East and Southeast Asia.
