Tsukimi Burger (月見バーガー)
The burger that marks autumn in Japan. Tsukimi means moon-viewing, and the round egg on the beef patty stands in for the harvest moon; bacon and a creamy tomato sauce complete it. It comes back every September for a few weeks along with cheese and other variations, and its return is treated as a seasonal event rather than a promotion.
The story
McDonald’s Japan runs its best-received specials on a fixed calendar, each back for about a month a year: Chicken Tatsuta in February, the Teritama in March, Loco Moco in July, Gracoro in December and the Tsukimi Burger in September, timed to the moon-viewing season. The autumn line-up now spreads beyond the burger, with a Tsukimi muffin at breakfast and a doubled cheese version on the evening menu.

About McDonald's
Nobody sells more burgers. McDonald’s began as a single drive-in run by Richard and Maurice McDonald in San Bernardino, California, and became a burger machine in 1948, when the brothers threw out most of the menu and rebuilt the kitchen like a production line. Ray Kroc, a salesman who sold them milkshake mixers, started franchising it in 1955 and later bought the brothers out.
More than 40,000 restaurants in over 100 countries.
