The story
O.F.D. stands for Originally From Dorchester, and in Boston that is not a location so much as a claim. Dorchester is the city’s largest neighbourhood, working-class and fiercely local, and the Wahlberg brothers grew up there before any of them were famous. Putting the abbreviation on a menu in Hingham, a comfortable town down the coast, is the kind of thing only someone entitled to say it can get away with — which is the whole idea behind a restaurant with a family surname over the door.

About Wahlburgers
Chef Paul Wahlberg and his actor brothers Mark and Donnie opened the first Wahlburgers in Hingham, Massachusetts, in 2011, next to Paul’s restaurant Alma Nove. The name is borrowed: the family licensed “Wahlburger” from Tom Wahl’s, an older restaurant in upstate New York.
Around 30 restaurants in the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, down from more than a hundred in 2023.
