Natsumi
The burger with no bun at all: fillings are wrapped in large crisp lettuce leaves instead. MOS offers several burgers this way, and it turns them into something light and crunchy. It is a clever, healthy-feeling option that suits the chain’s made-to-order approach.
The story
MOS Burger introduced the Natsumi line on 23 April 2013, replacing the bun with two thick mounds of crisp lettuce wrapped around the burger fillings, so the meat sauce, patty and toppings of a MOS burger come held in leaves instead of bread. The idea was simple and the result is lighter, crunchier and very messy, which is part of the appeal. MOS brought the Natsumi range back in 2016, and English-language food sites in Japan covered both launches as one of the more unusual things on a Japanese fast-food menu.

About MOS Burger
MOS Burger opened in Tokyo in 1972 with a very un-fast-food idea: cook everything only after it is ordered. The name was later given a meaning, Mountain, Ocean, Sun, and the chain became Japan’s biggest home-grown answer to McDonald’s, now its second-largest burger chain.
The second-largest burger chain in Japan, with branches across East and Southeast Asia.
