Fry Lover’s Burger
The chain’s fries are so beloved that they eventually put them inside a burger. Seasoned fries go into the bun with the beef, cheese and a sauce, so every bite is crunchy, salty and a little absurd. It is a gimmick, but a gimmick built on the best thing on the menu.
The story
At most chains the fries are an afterthought bought in frozen. Here they are the reason people come: thick-cut, coated in a seasoned batter that survives the drive home, and defended by regulars far more loudly than any burger on the board. Putting them inside a burger is the chain admitting what its own customers already order, and it is the same logic behind the buildings — two drive-thru lanes, a walk-up window, no dining room, everything designed around food eaten in a car.

About Checkers & Rally's
These are two chains that grew up with the same idea and eventually merged. Rally’s opened in Nashville in 1985, Checkers in Mobile, Alabama, in 1986, and both built tiny buildings with two drive-thru lanes and a walk-up window but no dining room. They merged in 1999 and still run under both names, with an identical menu.
Hundreds of double drive-thrus across the US. Checkers in the east and south, Rally’s in the Midwest and west.
