Chubby Chicken
An A&W Canada classic since the 1960s: a breaded white-meat chicken breast with mayo and lettuce on a sesame seed bun. There are spicy habanero and BLT versions too. Old-fashioned, simple and loved.
The story
Chubby Chicken has been on Canadian A&W menus since the 1960s, which makes it older than almost every chicken sandwich in North American fast food — McDonald’s did not manage one until 1980, and it failed. The name comes from the same era as the Burger Family and follows the same logic: a friendly word a child can order from a speaker. It has survived every menu overhaul since, including the chain’s split from its American parent in 1972.
