Bondi Burger
The chain’s best-known burger. A fresh-grilled chicken breast fillet with crisp lettuce, cheese, creamy mayo and the chain’s Original Chilli sauce. Grilled rather than fried, it is lighter than most chicken burgers, and the Original Chilli sauce is the same one the chain bastes its chicken with. Comes as a single, double or triple.
The story
Oporto started in 1986 as a charcoal chicken shop in North Bondi, selling Portuguese-style grilled chicken basted in chilli sauce, and the burger named after the suburb takes exactly that and puts it in a bun: a grilled breast fillet, the chain’s Original Chilli sauce, mayo, lettuce and cheese. It became the chain’s best-known item, the burger its meal boxes, such as the Bondi & Bolas Box, are built around.

About Oporto
António Cerqueira, an Australian of Portuguese descent, opened the first Oporto in North Bondi, Sydney, in 1986, under the plain name Portuguese-Style Bondi Charcoal Chicken. The name it took later came from his favourite football club, FC Porto. It began franchising in 1995 and changed hands several times through private equity, and today belongs to Craveable Brands, owned by PAG Asia Capital. It runs more than 200 restaurants in Australia and New Zealand.
