Cheddar McMelt
A Brazilian McDonald’s classic that exists almost nowhere else: a 100% beef patty under a pour of creamy Cheddar-style cheese sauce, with onions cooked in soy sauce, on a dark sesame bun. The soy onions are sweet and savoury at once, and the sauce soaks into everything. It also comes as a double, with two patties.
The story
McDonald’s came to Brazil on 13 February 1979 with a restaurant on Rua Hilário de Gouveia in Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro, and reached Avenida Paulista in São Paulo two years later. The country became one of the chain’s biggest markets, with more than 3,100 points of sale, and built a menu of its own around items like the Cheddar McMelt and the Tasty line.

About McDonald's
Nobody sells more burgers. McDonald’s began as a single drive-in run by Richard and Maurice McDonald in San Bernardino, California, and became a burger machine in 1948, when the brothers threw out most of the menu and rebuilt the kitchen like a production line. Ray Kroc, a salesman who sold them milkshake mixers, started franchising it in 1955 and later bought the brothers out.
More than 40,000 restaurants in over 100 countries.
