Emmy Burger
The burger from sister restaurant Emily that the world copies: two dry-aged beef patties cooked medium-rare, Emmy sauce of gochujang and Kewpie mayonnaise, caramelised onions, American cheese and dill pickles on a light pretzel bun. Sweet heat, deep beef and sharp pickles in one bite.
The story
The Emmy Burger was created at Emily, the West Village restaurant of Emily and Matthew Hyland’s Pizza Loves Emily group in New York. Its pairing of dry-aged beef with a sweet, spicy gochujang sauce, caramelised onions and pickles on a pretzel roll became so influential that critics now see echoes of it on burger menus worldwide, and in 2026 The World’s Best Burgers ranked it sixth in the world.
