Chicken Jr.
A small breaded chicken patty with lettuce and mayo on a regular bun. It is Burger King’s value-menu chicken sandwich and roughly the equivalent of the McChicken. Nothing fancy, and priced to be ordered alongside something else rather than on its own.
The story
The Chicken Jr. started life in 1998 as the Chick’n Crisp, a small fried chicken sandwich on a sesame bun added with Burger King’s first proper value menu, the Great Tastes Menu. It was dropped in the US in 2000 and revived in 2007 as the Spicy Chick’n Crisp. In March 2012 the chain went back to the original patty and moved the heat into a spicy mayo, and in 2013 the sandwich took its current name. It has since spawned a string of variants, from the Rodeo Crispy Chicken of 2014 to spicy versions, all built on the same small patty.
