Lota Burger New Mexico Style
The order that defines the chain: a double-meat cheeseburger topped with Hatch green chile. The chile brings a green, peppery heat that cuts straight through the melted cheese, and once you have had a burger like this, a plain cheeseburger feels like it is missing something. This is the taste of New Mexico.
The story
Green chile on burgers is now a New Mexico institution, and Lotaburger did much to make it one. In 2006 National Geographic singled out its green chile cheeseburger as the best in the world, and in 2009 the state’s tourism department put the chain on its Green Chile Cheeseburger Trail.
