About Wayback Burgers

Wayback started in 1991 as Jake’s Hamburgers in Newark, Delaware. It began franchising in the 2000s, became Jake’s Wayback Burgers in 2010 and dropped the Jake’s in 2014 to avoid confusion with another chain. Head office is now in Cheshire, Connecticut, and the brand has spread from New England to Texas and California.

It is a no-fuss, old-school burger joint in the same space as Five Guys, with nearly every signature burger built on two patties. It also has a sense of humour: in 2015 it sold a limited milkshake made with cricket protein powder. The first branch outside the US opened in Buenos Aires in 2015, and Tokyo followed in 2022.

Well over a hundred franchised restaurants in the US, plus branches abroad including Argentina, Saudi Arabia and Japan.

Signature burgers first. Only burgers and sandwiches, no sides.
