Chick-fil-A Chicken Sandwich
The sandwich every fast-food chicken sandwich is chasing. A boneless chicken breast seasoned, breaded and pressure-cooked, on a toasted buttered bun with two dill pickle chips. That is it, and the simplicity is the secret: juicy chicken, a hint of sweetness from the bun, sharp pickles. Add a sauce if you must, but try it plain first.
Truett Cathy spent years on the idea before discovering, in 1961, a pressure fryer that cooked a chicken breast in the time it took to cook a hamburger. The sandwich became the foundation of Chick-fil-A, and nearly six decades later its success pushed rivals into the chicken sandwich wars of 2019.
