Super Big Boy
The Big Boy with double the meat. It keeps the same cheese, shredded lettuce and Big Boy sauce, so the sauce-to-beef balance tips towards the meat and it eats more like a proper meal. The one to order if the original leaves you hungry.
The story
Bob Wian built the original double-decker in 1937 out of leftovers and showmanship, and for twenty years it had no serious imitator. Then the format spread: McDonald’s Big Mac arrived in 1967 built on the same three-layer bun, and every chain in America eventually ran a version. The Super Big Boy is the founder’s answer to the copies — the same architecture with the patties doubled, so the burger that started the idea could still claim to be the biggest version of it.

About Big Boy
Bob Wian opened a small diner called Bob’s Pantry in Glendale, California, in 1936. A year later he invented a burger so tall it looked like a leaning tower, and when a chubby six-year-old named Richard Woodruff walked in, Wian greeted him with “Hello, Big Boy.” The name stuck, and the boy became one of America’s best-known restaurant mascots: pompadour, red-and-white checked overalls, burger held high.
About 50 Big Boy restaurants in Michigan, Ohio, Nevada and North Dakota, four Bob’s Big Boys in California, Frisch’s Big Boy in the Cincinnati area, and a separate Big Boy chain in Japan.
