Whatachick’n Sandwich
Whataburger’s classic chicken sandwich: a breaded chicken breast fillet with lettuce, tomato and mayo on the big toasted bun. It is not the flashy option, but it is a dependable, well-made sandwich for anyone in the group who does not want beef.
The story
Whataburger was built on one burger: the 25-cent, quarter-pound Whataburger that Harmon Dobson started selling in Corpus Christi, Texas, in August 1950. For more than thirty years the menu barely moved. Then in 1983 the chain added three things at once that changed how Texans used it: Breakfast on a Bun, breakfast taquitos and the Whatachick’n sandwich, a breaded chicken breast on a bun. Together they turned a burger stand into a place to eat at any hour.

About Whataburger
Harmon Dobson opened the first Whataburger in Corpus Christi, Texas, in 1950 with a simple ambition: a burger so big it took two hands to hold and so good that people would say “What a burger!” when they bit into it. In 1961 he designed the orange-and-white striped A-frame buildings, inspired by his love of aviation, and they became as recognisable in Texas as the flag.
Around 1,000 restaurants across the South and Southwest, with Texas at its heart.
