Chicken Cheetos Slider
The best-known item after the Original: a breaded fried chicken fillet with curly lettuce and a pink house sauce underneath, piled with crushed Cheetos and a squeeze of cheese sauce. The Cheetos add crunch and that orange, salty cheese-dust flavour. There are Cheetos fries to go with it for anyone who wants the full orange tray. It is sweeter and saltier than the beef sliders.
The story
Cheetos were invented in 1948 by Charles Elmer Doolin, the creator of Fritos, who cooked the first test batches in the Frito Company’s kitchen in Dallas, Texas. Demand outran what his company could produce, so he teamed up with the potato chip businessman Herman W. Lay to distribute them nationally, and in 1961 the two companies merged into Frito-Lay, which joined Pepsi-Cola in 1965 to form PepsiCo. That global distribution is why a Texas cheese puff ends up crushed over a fried chicken slider on a Dubai beach.
