Teriyaki Chicken Filet-O (てりやきチキンフィレオ)
McDonald’s Japan calls this its only burger that is both fried and teriyaki: a crisp chicken patty coated in the sweet-salty teriyaki glaze, with lettuce. The crust soaks up the sauce, so it eats somewhere between a chicken sandwich and the pork Teriyaki McBurger. Sticky and sweet; grab extra napkins.
The story
The Teriyaki Chicken Filet-O first appeared in Japan as a summer burger in 2008, alongside a Salsa Chicken Filet-O, and kept coming back for short runs, including one in January 2015. In May 2018 McDonald’s Japan put it into its first “regular menu audition”, a public vote open only to burgers that had never been permanent and had not been sold nationwide for two years. It competed against the Tamago Double Mac and the McRib, and winning that vote is what earned it a permanent place on the menu.

About McDonald's
Nobody sells more burgers. McDonald’s began as a single drive-in run by Richard and Maurice McDonald in San Bernardino, California, and became a burger machine in 1948, when the brothers threw out most of the menu and rebuilt the kitchen like a production line. Ray Kroc, a salesman who sold them milkshake mixers, started franchising it in 1955 and later bought the brothers out.
