Crown Burger

  • Signature

A quarter-pound cheeseburger buried under hot, thinly sliced pastrami, with thousand island dressing, lettuce, tomato and onion. The pastrami adds salt, smoke and a peppery edge, and the dressing pulls it together. It is heavy and wonderful, and it is the burger Salt Lake City is known for.

The story

The pastrami burger was first served by James Katsanevas, a relative of the founders, at Minos Burgers in Anaheim, California, who had learned it from a Los Angeles cook of Turkish descent. When the families opened Crown Burgers in Utah they put it on the menu as the Crown Burger, and it became so popular that pastrami burgers spread across Salt Lake City.
