Crown Burgers
The Greek family burger joint that made the pastrami burger a Salt Lake City staple.
About Crown Burgers
Nick Katsanevas and John Katzourakis, two Greek-American families who had lost their jobs in California, opened the first Crown Burgers in Salt Lake City in 1978. The menu mixes American burgers with the food of Greek immigrant carts: gyros, souvlaki, fish and chips, and a house fry sauce.
Crown Burgers is now so woven into Salt Lake City that its logo appears on the backdrop of the Salt Lake scenes in the London production of The Book of Mormon. Its pastrami burger started a local trend that spread to restaurants across the city and even to Carl’s Jr.
Seven restaurants, all in Utah.
