About BurgerFi

BurgerFi opened in 2011 in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, Florida, as part of the wave of “better burger” restaurants that promised cleaner ingredients than the drive-thrus: all-natural Angus beef with no hormones or antibiotics, fresh-cut fries and a modern, bright dining room.

The chain grew quickly, went public, and then struggled: it filed for bankruptcy in 2024 and was sold to a new owner in 2025. The menu, though, stayed recognisable, and its most talked-about burger is still the one named after the boss.

Around 65 restaurants, most of them in Florida and the eastern US.
