Albuquerque food with a body count. Los Pollos Hermanos was the friendly front for the biggest drug operation in the Southwest, and Walter White built an entire alter ego out of obsessive precision.

This folder cooks the show’s food for real: the chicken sandwich from Gus Fring’s chain, a burger engineered in Heisenberg’s spirit with the blue crystal included, and the green chile cheeseburger that Albuquerque is actually proud of.

Los Pollos Hermanos first appeared in the second-season episode “Mandala” in 2009, and its restaurant scenes were filmed at a Twisters fast-food restaurant in the South Valley, near Albuquerque. Gus Fring, played by Giancarlo Esposito, came back with the chain in Better Call Saul from 2017 to 2022. The fake chain became real for a while: pop-ups opened in 2017 in cities including New York, Los Angeles, Sydney and Rome, and in 2018 the Twisters location was dressed as Los Pollos Hermanos for the show’s tenth anniversary.
