About The Flat Top King

The Flat Top King is a griddle cooking channel started in 2020 by a former US Navy cook who has fed thousands of people at once. He cooks on Blackstone, Camp Chef, Pit Boss and Weber flat-tops, answers viewers’ questions in long, practical videos and often puts his wife Amy, who says she cannot cook, in charge of the burgers.

Smash burgers are the channel’s core. His most-watched video covers the mistakes beginners make and how to fix them, and others show smash burgers without a griddle, on different brands of flat-top and for a crowd. He tests the questions viewers ask: fresh against frozen patties, thick against smash, griddle against grill, and whether to smash before cooking. Recipes include an Oklahoma fried onion burger inspired by George Motz, butter smash burgers, a French onion patty melt, a pub burger on a pretzel bun, crack burger chopped cheese, smash tacos four ways and In-N-Out’s Flying Dutchman.
