About Munchies

Munchies is the food channel of VICE, launched in 2014, and it made several of the burger videos that defined early food YouTube. Its first how-to with Matty Matheson, then the owner of Parts and Labour in Toronto, became one of the most-watched cheeseburger tutorials online, and he came back in 2018 with a burger he claims to hate.

Street Food Icons and Word of Mouth tell the stories of cheap burgers and the people behind them: Mo, a Harlem vendor who has sold $2 cheeseburgers for decades, 20 Grams Cafe in Brooklyn with its viral $2.55 cheeseburger, the sisters behind Mama Rocks in Nairobi, and Cuban Guys and its frita in Miami. The channel also filmed the public debut of the Impossible Burger with David Chang in 2016.

Chefs and guests cook in the Munchies kitchen too: Chris Kronner’s patty melt, a Juicy Lucy and salmon burgers from Farideh’s Cooking Show, vegan and veggie burgers, Binging with Babish’s Parks and Rec turkey burger, and chicken and fish sandwiches from Trigg Brown and Eric Wareheim.
