About HowToBasic

HowToBasic is an Australian channel that has been parodying cooking tutorials since the early 2010s. The host is anonymous and mostly faceless, the videos have no narration, and the joke never changes: each one opens like a tidy recipe video, then the ingredients are hurled, smashed and stomped until the kitchen is covered in food. Eggs are the recurring victim, and fans are known as the egg army.

Burgers gave the channel some of its biggest hits. The Krabby Patty from SpongeBob and the Big Mac each passed 30 million views, and the Whopper, the Quarter Pounder, the McDonald’s cheeseburger and the Travis Scott burger got the same treatment. Later videos promise the perfect burger, a healthy burger, a smash burger, a vegan burger and Big Mac sauce, with descriptions that claim to reveal secret recipes and videos that deliver anything but.

None of these is a usable recipe, which is exactly the point. They are included here as part of burger culture on YouTube, not as instructions.
